the screen and off the hook

It’s fun and
sexy, unscripted and uncensored. It’s The Real Cancun,
the world’s first reality feature film.
Produced by the creators of The Real World and Road
Rules, The Real Cancun brings together 16
people for eight days in a beachfront Mexican villa for the
ultimate Spring Break vacation.
The 16 cast members were selected through open auditions at
college campuses across the United States, and they eagerly
immersed themselves in the Spring Break revelry of Cancun,
all the while being followed 24 hours a day by six camera
crews.
Bonds were forged, romances were sparked, friendships were
tested and hearts were broken amidst a backdrop of non-stop
partying by the 40,000 college students who travel to Cancun
each year for Spring Break.
“Cancun is the number one fantasy destination for Spring
Break,” says producer Mary-Ellis Bunim, who helped create
the reality genre with The Real World. “Making
this movie with New Line and FilmEngine represents an
unprecedented opportunity for us to kick up the bar in terms
of the kinds of stories we want to tell.”
Adds producer Jonathan Murray, “It’s exciting to be able
to break the chains of television and deliver a more
dramatic and sexy theatrical product.”
New Line Cinema will release The Real Cancun (rated
“R” by the M.P.A.A. for “strong sexuality/nudity,
language and partying”) nationwide on April 25, 2003.
