Name:
Tom "Turbo" Dowdle
Where can you find Turbo?
You can find him working at JOEL or more
currently at East Village Grille "The Lodge".
What is your favorite drink?
Personally...Budweiser....to make...margarita!
What's the drink you make most often?
Martini (sour apple/cosmopolitan)
Finish this line: A man walks into a bar...
looking for good food, good friends, cold drinks,
great fellowship, and a challenging beautiful woman!
What's the best pickup line you have ever heard?
Have you ever tasted my key lime pie?
What song do you wish they would take off the speakers at
your work?
Really not a song in particular that I think they
should take off the speakers....sometimes the club/DJ plays
cheesy tunes and I would rather have up beat good music!
Which Bars / Clubs do you visit when you are not working?
Clubs that I visit when not working are Fado,
Rose and Crown, Corner Pocket, Front Page News, McTighs
Mellow Mushroom, Twist, The Tavern, East Paces, Dark Horse,
Atkins Park, Blind Willys...I enjoy a variety of places!
How cheap are people?
I would not say that people are cheap! In my
opinion if someone does not tip me I do not deserve it or
they don't know any better! I will say that I do not hang
out with people who are cheap, if I see that you are then I
will most likely not hang with you on a consistent basis!
What piece of bar etiquette do you wish people would learn?
I wish people would learn to be
courteous...rudeness is a big pet peeve of mine!
Give us a piece of advice (about anything)...
live your life by these rules:
# 1 -- Work like you do not need the money!
# 2 -- Love like you have never been hurt!
# 3 -- Dance like no one is watching!
What is your favorite movie(s)?
This is a tough question because I like all types movies,
and one of my favorite things to do is to go to the movies.
I would have to say my favorite movies are the ones that
leave you feeling like you can conquer the world after
watching them!
Shaw Shank Redemption...Rudy...Gladiator...Brave Heart
There are many more but these are a few of my favorites!

There are some tools and equipment that are essential in becoming a cocktail master. Most of these you can find at your local kitchen and small appliance stores like Bed Bath & Beyond. There's no need to spend a small fortune to complete a fully stocked bar at home, just try to make do with what you have around the kitchen. But I wouldn't suggest using anything from your toolbox.
1. Cocktail Shaker (To mix the goods together)
2. Juicer (Drinks always taste better with fresh juice. It can always be one of those "put your back into it" juicers)
3. Ice Bucket and Tongs (The bigger the better, bucket that is)
4. Blender (A necessity)
5. Mixing Glass (Including a measuring table on the side)
6. Small Grater (Top it off with something special)
7. Cocktail sticks (Stick it to 'em with a garnish)
8. Cutting board (For slicing, chopping and getting artsy)
9. Glass pourer (For the hard to pour blends that only require a dash of this and smidge of that. Great for bitters and colored spirits)
10. Mortar and Pestle (For mashing mint etc.)
11. Pony-jigger (Get jiggy with your measuring)
12. Champagne and Wine Stopper (Keep it fresh!)
13. Muddler (Wooden thing that mashes stuff)
14. Zester (Get "zesty" with freshly peeled fruits)
These tools are must haves for entertaining guests. People just love to try new drinks when visiting family or friends. Let's just hope they don't drink too much and want to stay the night. Well, maybe some guests. <Wink>
THE BAR
Now, lets talk about the part that makes our mouth water...the bar. Here's a list of things that you may or may not have. Keep in mind some of these items will spoil so preparation is key. 3. Tequila
4. White Rum
5. Gin
6. Brandy
7. Campari
8. Pimm's No1 (I love this stuff)
9. Sweet and Dry Vermouth
10. Whiskey
11. Bourbon
Liqueurs:
1. Grand Marnier
2. Amaretto
3. Blue Curacao
4. Cointreau
5. Grenadine
6. Limon cello
7. Crème de menthe (white and green)
8. Crème de Cocoa
Juices:
1. Orange
2. Cranberry
3. Pineapple
4. Lime
5. Tomato
6. Grapefruit
7. Guava
Mixers:
1. Soda water
2. Ginger ale
3. Lemonade
4. Sprite
5. Coke
Wines:
1. White
2. Red
3. Champagne
4. Sparkling wine
Things that make the difference:
1. Tabasco
2. Worcestershire
3. Light cream
4. Ginger
5. Coconut cream
6. Salt
7. Sugar
Now that we have established a foundation to make you a mastermind behind the bar, we hope you enjoy this section of armada's
"Cocktail Corner."
This week's Cocktail Corner drink
Kiss on the Lips
for all you
romantic lovers.
This is a simple little drink anyone can make.
Ingredients:

Crushed Ice
In a highball glass full of ice pour your 2oz of bourbon and 5oz of apricot juice directly in the glass. Now all you need is a spoon or you can serve your cocktail with a stirrer.
